Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Kings 11)
“Finishing Our Course Well”
Text: 1 Kings 11:4
“For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.”
“Finishing Our Course Well,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
We all have a “Course,” to navigate through during our lifetime on earth. It’s a plan of good works that God has designed for each of us to walk in. Our Commander knows the Way through this Course, and He knows what it’s going to take to “complete” this course well - so He leads us, empowers us, and walks with us all the way to the end of the Course. Our part in this “navigation,” is to keep our eyes, heart, and soul focused on Him; following Him through the seasons of success and failure, when people are with us or when friends abandon us, and when the course leads us into the unfamiliar territories of life on earth. We keep our eyes, heart, and soul on the prize of our Commander’s presence with us, from beginning to end of this Course - and We Will Finish Our Course Well.
Sadly, King Solomon took his focus off God and followed “another course,” that led away from God; following what God had told him Not to follow; lusting after foreign women, (Lust of the Flesh), multiplying silver and gold for himself (Lust of the eye), multiplying horses for himself, (the Pride of life), and he failed to write the Law in a book, keep it with him, and read it all the days of his life, (Keep his eyes, heart, and soul focused on God). Deut. 17:15-20) This became a pattern in Solomon’s life and caused him not to finish his Course well. He was Disloyal to his Commander and King.
Solomon’s failure to finish well not the not affected his life, it affected his home, and his nation. His failure had consequences beyond his lifetime on earth.
Listen up Warrior! Keep your moral compass in true north, your Commander Who goes before you, empowers you with His life, and leads you through your Course in this world. Refuse to be distracted and ensnared by lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, and the pride of life that taunt you from the sidelines of your Course! Make a copy of God’s Word; let Holy Spirit write His Word upon your heart, keep It with you, Read it every day, and It will keep your moral compass on true north, Your Commander’s Presence - and You Will Finish Your Course Well, as the Apostle Paul did:
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2Tim.4:1-8).
Warrior at your side,
