Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Deuteronomy 30:1 - 31:13)
“A Circumcised Heart”
Text: Deuteronomy 30:6
“And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”
“A Circumcised Heart” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Moses knew Israel would experience both the blessing and the curse of God after he died (v.1-3); yet, if they “called these promises to mind” and returned to God with all their heart and all their soul, and obeyed God’s Law, God would restore His blessing on them.
Moses also pointed ahead to Messiah, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when he said: the Lord your God will circumcise your heart.”
The Old Covenant had only blessing and curse; yet there was a New Covenant coming with Messiah Jesus Christ that would bring “a new heart and a new spirit,” and exchange “a heart of flesh for their heart of stone.” In other words “A Circumcised Heart!”
Ezekiel shares God’s Promise with us:
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Ezek.36:26-27).
Oh Hallelujah! This is the “born-again experience” of the New Testament Believer In Christ! The Old Things of the Old Man, and our “heart of stone” pass away, (2Corin.5:17), and we get “a New Heart,” a heart of flesh, tender and sensitive with God’s Love - “a Circumcised Heart!”
Paul shares this circumcised heart with the Roman Church:
“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh;
but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.” (Rom. 2:28-29).
And to maintain this Circumcised Heart we have Holy Spirit living and working in us both:
to DESIRE to Obey and Imitate Our Commander Jesus Christ, and also,
the Empowerment to Obey and To Live a Life and of Obedience to God’s Word.
“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”(Phil.2:13).
As Ezekiel said: Messiah gave us “a new heart and a new Spirit within us……. that will Cause you and I to walk in His Statutes, Keep His Judgements, and Do them!”
This is the Work of Jesus Christ IN you and I and the Work of Holy Spirit our Helper In you and I - Growing a Circumcised Heart in You and I! Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
