Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 19:9-43)
“A Divided Heart”
Text: 2Samuel 19:9-10
“Now all the people were in a dispute throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “The king saved us from the hand of our enemies, he delivered us from the hand of the Philistines, and now he has fled from the land because of Absalom.
But Absalom, whom we anointed over us, has died in battle. Now therefore, why do you say nothing about bringing back the king?”
“A Divided Heart,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Israel had rejected David who was ‘God’s choice’ for their king, and anointed Absalom, ‘their choice’ as their king. They had A Divided Heart. They called themselves God’s people but they rejected God’s law. It appears that they were looking for a “replacement for Absalom,” rather than repenting for their foolishness in rejecting king David as their king.
Listen up Warrior! A Divided Heart is an Unrepentant Heart! The only cure for a divided heart is sincere godly sorrow and repentance.
“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2Corin.7:10).
Worldly sorrow is sad over losing the things of the world, while the focus of godly sorrow is God himself.
Israel was the first to repent and bring King David back to Hebron as King. However Judah had to be convinced by Zadok and Abiathar the priests, to bring King David back to Jerusalem.
As a tribe they were united as one man; the 10 tribes of Israel and the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The world is full of people like this; “united as one person for a cause” yet “separated from each other because of sin.”
As a people of God Israel was divided between Israel and Judah.
Let me be clear about this. There is no place in the Kingdom of God for A Divided Heart! God is either Lord of All my Life - or He is not Lord at all! His Choice is My Choice, His Ways are My Ways, and His Footsteps are My Pathway.
When our heart is United with God’s Heart we will be United as One Man as God’s People....
A Divided Heart is the Heart of this world - but
A United Heart with God is the Heart of God’s Warriors. Oooh Rah!
