Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“A Life of Separation”
Text: Numbers 33:55-56
“But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell. Moreover it shall be that I will do to you as I thought to do to them.’ ”
The Warrior’s Life is to be “A Life of Separation,” and that’s what’s on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God is giving the Promised Land of Canaan to Israel for their possession, but the Canaanites must all be driven out of the land. Israel was given possession of the land but if they let the Canaanites remain, their wickedness would ultimately make Israel just like the Canaanites.
Israel was to Live a Separated Life.
We too, as Warriors are expected to Live a Separated Life in this world, and not behave like this world.
The Warrior’s Separated Life is the Response of a Heart filled with Supreme Love for God. To Love God is to hate sin!
Loving God Supremely leaves No Room for sin or wickedness; our Love for God Alone is what Separates you and I from this world! Our Love for God “drives out sin from our life with confession and repentance. Paul explains it this way:
“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty.” (2Corin.6:14-18).
There must be a clear distinction in a Warrior’s life, from the lives of unbelievers. The Warrior has driven out sin from their life! When others are lawless and evil, the Warrior of God stands as the son and daughter of God “full of good works for all to see and glorify our Father in heaven “Matt.5:16).
There is no room for the attitudes and behavior of the “Canaanite” ungodliness in the Warrior’s life - because the Warrior has put off the old man who practiced ungodliness and put on the new man who is growing in the likeness of Christ.
“But you have not so learned Christ,
if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”(Eph.4:20-24).
We cannot control the “Canaanite” things we see and hear around us every day, but we can control what we allow to remain in our mind. We “Throw the trash out;” by: “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”(2Corin.10:5).
For example when a thought of revenge rises up from the mistreatment of others - we arrest it and hold it captive to obey God’s Word “do not be overcome with evil but overcome evil with good,” (Rom.12:21).
This is how the Warrior lives A Life of Separation: by Loving God Supremely and their fellow man equally! Oooooh Rah!
