Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Atonement Brings Forgiveness and Restoration“
Text: Leviticus 16:30-31
“For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.”
This Truth that “Atonement Brings Forgiveness and Restoration,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
On the Day of Atonement each year Israel remembered their sin and offered the sacrifice of two goats; one died and one lived. The living goat bore all the sins of Aaron and the people.
Our Commander Jesus Christ is pictured as both The Priest and the offering. He is our High Priest forever - and He is the One Offering made Once for all of us. (Heb.10:14).
He was the goat sacrificed on the altar of the Cross, and He was the living goat that Rose From The Dead To Live Forever as our Commander and King; the Firstborn from the dead!
He Is Our Atonement, our Kinsman Redeemer Who Brought Forgiveness and Restoration.
When, by Faith and Trust in Him, you and I “afflict our souls” in godly confession and repentance for our sin, He Forgives us and He Restores us as His son and daughter.
On that Day and On that Cross the Atonement was made for you and I; once for all who believe in His sinless death for our sin - and His Victorious Resurrection conquering death, hell, and the grave!
He died once so you and I could life Forever - and
He lives Forever so you and I will Never Die! Ooooh Rah!
Our Commander’s Atonement Brought Forgiveness and Restoration for you and I:
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Rom.5:1-2).
Israel observed their Day of Atonement once every year, because their sin was never taken away completely.
Our Day of Atonement is rehearsed every day as we “afflict our souls” with confession and godly sorrow of repentance for our sin.
This reminds you and I, every day, of the price Jesus paid for the sin that was ours.
It is also “a solemn day, a sabbath of rest,” for you and I to rest from our futile efforts to replace His Work of Love and Grace with our dead works of self-righteousness.
We come to Him with our heavy burden of sin and find Forgiveness, Restoration, and Rest in His Love; because of His Atonement:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt.11:28-30)
