Good Morning Marine!
Word for the Day:
“Beware the Snare of Lust”
Text: Num. 11:4
“Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat?”
A Word of Warning is on our menu for Breakfast this morning: “Beware the Snare of Lust!”
This ‘bait of satan’ is always prowling around the perimeter of our heart - looking for a ‘weak point’ to break through. Hell’s snipers are in the tree line with their cross hair searching for a target, and just waiting to squeeze off a bullet of lust at any moment; and take you down!
Beware the Snare of Lust.
The mixed multitude among Israel yielded to this snare of lust and infected all of Israel with this ‘virus of lust.’ A little leaven of lust leavens the whole lump of God’s People (Gal.5:9). That’s what happened to Israel here.
The sweetness and wholesomeness of the ‘Bread from heaven’(John 6:31-35) was no longer sufficient for this mixed multitude; it had become ‘this manna before our eyes (v.6),’ common and ordinary. They had ‘lost their wonder’ of God’s miraculous provision of this sweet pastry, that was designed to encourage them on their journey to their Promised Land of ‘milk and honey!” They lost their taste and hunger for the spiritual food and lusted, and craved for the worldly lust of their fleshly desires! That’s what lust does! It destroys your appetite for spiritual food. And when you don’t eat you begin to die.
Listen up Warrior! When your Commander’s Word becomes ‘this common manna’ and you begin to lose your appetite for God’s Word - BEWARE THE SNARE OF LUST!
Yes, the devil will give you cheap thrills and temporary pleasure as bait - to snare you in the bear trap of sin and drag you to hell!
If you’ve been hit with bullet of lust cry out in confession “I’m hit!” And Holy Spirit, our ‘Corpsman’ will hear your confession and repentance, patch you up, and get you back into the fight.
Listen up Warrior! This is why we meet with our Commander for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner every day - to maintain our readiness for the fight. His Word is our clothing of righteousness, (Eph. 6:10-18), bullet proof armor for our head and chest, and a Sword to take out any sniper that tries to take you down. Oooh Rah!
God’s Word, the Sweet and Wholesome Bread of Heaven is the Bread we eat, chew, and hunger for - because we ‘lost our appetite for sin.’
Oh yeah, we are alert to sin’s traps, that’s why we are ‘armored up’ at all times, clothed with God’s Word, and His Sword of Righteousness! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
