Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Brought Near By the Blood”
Text: Exodus 24:8
“And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the to LORD has made with you according to all these words.”
“Brought Near By the Blood ,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God made a Covenant with Israel to be their God and Israel agreed to Obey the terms of this Covenant as the people of God. This Covenant was sealed and confirmed with the blood of a clean young animal. The life of one had to be given for the life of another.....
An innocent animal was substituted for the people, and had to die, and their blood was spilled as a sacrifice upon the altar, and also upon the people. The blood on the altar symbolically satisfied God’s Judgement on sin, and the blood on the people symbolically covered their sin. This showed that God and the people were mutually bound together in this Covenant.
In effect, the people were “Brought Near to God By the Blood.”
This was a picture or a Shadow of the New Testament Covenant of Grace through Messiah, Jesus; the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29).
Instead of the blood of animals, the blood of God Himself as Son of Man was spilled upon the altar of the Cross and upon “whosoever believes in Him,” and Obeys the terms of this Covenant of Grace.
“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17).
Instead of “covering” our sin, the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin:
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:7-9).
The Blood of Jesus is the Foundation of all our growth and maturity in Him, as His Warrior:
“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Heb.13:20-21).
We have been Brought Near To God By the Blood of Jesus Christ, our Commander and King! Oooooh Rah!
