Good Morning Warrior!
Hallelujah! It’s the Lord’s Day!
Word for the Day:
“Called and Chosen to Love and Serve”
Text: Numbers 4:49
“According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, each according to his service and according to his task; thus were they numbered by him, as the LORD commanded Moses.”
You and I have been “Called and Chosen to Love and Serve,” and that’s what’s on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Levites of Israel were called and chosen to serve God and the people of Israel collectively as a tribe and individually as a Levite.
They were numbered and appointed to serve by doing a specific task.
The sons of Kohath “carried” the holy things of the Tabernacle (v.15) and the sons of Gershon “performed the service” to do the work of the Tabernacle. (v.23). These words “performed the service” in Hebrew mean “warred the warfare,” which indicated their service was engaged in spiritual warfare. The sons of Merari were “each son by name was assigned the item he must carry,” (v.32) which showed individual personal responsibility for a specific service.
The work of the Tabernacle required each and all the Levites to perform Together. They were called and chosen to love and serve God and His people Israel.
Like the Levites of Israel, You and I as Warriors of God have each been called by name and assigned a task to complete: our Mission, to Love God Supremely and our fellow man the way God loves us. You and I have been Called and Chosen to Love and Serve God and Others. Together, we do the work of the Tabernacle as priests of God.
Like the sons of Kohath, You and I “carry” the Treasure of God Himself in our earthen vessel every day (2Corin.4:7).
We have also been called and chosen to be a royal priesthood and a holy nation (1Pet.2:9-10). We are each a living stone being built up into a spiritual house and holy priesthood:
“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”(1Pet.2:4-5).
Holy Spirit our Helper will inspire and empower you and I to Complete our Mission (Phil.2:12-13) as we meet with Him every day keeping our breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates with Him every day. His Love becomes our Love and His Service becomes our Service.
We’ve been called and chosen to love and serve God and others - as He Loves and Serves us as our High Priest, our Commander and King! Ooooh Rah!
