Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Kings 13:33 - 14:31)
“Casting sin Behind Our Back”
Text: 1Kings 14:9
“but you have done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other gods and molded images to provoke Me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back—“
“Casting sin Behind Our Back,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
In spite of God’s Wonderful Promise to give Israel to Jeroboam if he served God as King David served God (1Kings 11:37-38) - Jeroboam turned away from God to idolatry!
Jeroboam by his constant rejection of God had hardened his heart so much that The hammer of God’s Word was beating the cold steel of Jeroboam’s heart! God said to him: “but you have done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other gods and molded images to provoke Me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back—“
This term, “casting something behind your back,” illustrates the action of throwing away trash and refuse behind your back!
The world we live in, like Jeroboam, “casts God behind their back,” and makes the sin of idolatry, and self-worship their friend.
However the Warrior “casts sin behind their back;” like the refuse and trash that sin is! The stinky trash of sin gets in the way of our intimate walk with Our Commander and King so You and I have a Zero Tolerance for sin in our life! Oooooh Rah!
Our Rules of Engagement for sin are Clear! Death Upon Contact! We kill it with confession and repentance IMMEDIATELY! Ooooh Rah!
Jeroboam made sin his friend, and by this he “cast God Behind his back!”
This wickedness was greater than all the kings of Israel before him, and led Israel into the same gross idolatry of self -worship that he practiced. It destroyed Jeroboam and All his descendants from the face of the earth (1Kings 13:34).
These words “casting behind you” are welcome words when Isaiah says to God:
“Indeed it was for my own peace
That I had great bitterness;
But You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption,
For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.”(Isa.38:17).
When you and I confess and repent of our sin God tells us that He hast cast all our sins behind His Back forever -
“I will remember your sins no more forever! (Heb.8:12)
And John tells us:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”(1John 1:9).
When someone refuses to confess and repent of their sin they are in effect “casting God behind them.” What a Horrible Thing This Is!! How it hurts the heart of God, and causes the jealousy of God for the soul He has created to rise up in Him.
Let’s take a lesson from King David and a Warning from Jeroboam; David kept God’s commandments and followed God with all his heart (v.8) -
Jeroboam was the “measurement of wickedness” for all the wicked kings of Israel, leading himself and his descendents to doom.
