Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Character is Proven in Affliction”
Text: 1Samuel 25:21-22
“Now David had said, “Surely in vain I have protected all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that belongs to him. And he has repaid me evil for good.
May God do so, and more also, to the enemies of David, if I leave one male of all who belong to him by morning light.”
“Character is Proven in Affliction,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Character of David’s Servant Heart is being tested this morning by Nabal’s insult to him. Nabal “repaid evil for the good” service of David’s protection of his sheep.
David’s response was Not consistent with the Shepherd’s Heart that God was growing in him. He wanted to massacre all the men in Nabal’s house! David’s Character Was Being Proven In Affliction.
God brings His Maidservant Abigail to intercept David from his proposed sin of “avenging himself,” and “keeps David back from sin,” with her wise “Spirit-filled” counsel.
Abigail also reminded David of his Destiny as King of Israel and encouraged him “not to shed innocent blood, that would become a shame and regret and blemish upon his rule as king.”
Listen up Warrior! Our Character is Proven in the furnace of affliction; people rewarding us evil for the good we do. People falsely accusing us of wrongdoing. Yes, offenses come to you and I as afflictions to prove our Character.
Our Commander Jesus Christ faced these afflictions continually as Son of Man; and His Servant Heart of Perfect Love was Proven as He refused to avenge Himself, but committed Himself to His Father; saying “Father forgive them, they don’t fully understand what they’re doing…”
STILL People “reward Him evil rejection and insults - for the good Providence that God provides for all people.
Yet STILL He is “Patient, not willing that any should perish but that all will come to repentance.”(2Peter 3:9).
Listen up Warrior! Many times we will be offended by others rewarding us evil for good, and we’ll be tempted in the heat of passion to “avenge ourself,” of this evil. Our Helper Holy Spirit will always be there at that moment of temptation to “intercept us” from our proposal to avenge ourself, and “keep us back from this sin.” He Will also remind you and I “Who We Are, Who God Is, and Where We Will Spend Eternity!” In other words Holy Spirit will remind you and I of Our Eternal Destiny as A Faithful and Obedient Warrior of God! Ooooh Rah!
The Character of the Warrior is Proven in Affliction! Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
