Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Kings 3)
“Cultivating A Hearing Heart”
Text: 1 Kings 3:9
“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
“Cultivating A Hearing Heart,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. In “a dream by night,” God asked Solomon what he wanted. Solomon asked for “an understanding heart to judge and discern between good and evil.” The Hebrew word translated as understanding means “hearing.” Solomon asked God for “A Hearing Heart;” and God gave him one. We see that the wisdom and understanding of Solomon came from a heart that hears God:
“And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.”(1 Kings 3:28).
Our Commander Jesus tells us that we are created with the ability to hear His voice:
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27).
I saw this many times in Ethiopia when several shepherds gathered their sheep together with other sheep in a place; and rested, talking together about life. When one shepherd got up and mumbled a sound, each of their sheep left the huge gathering and followed their shepherd away down the road. It was amazing to me.
All Warriors are “sheep” before they become shepherds. God speaks to each of us as His sheep. As we follow Him, spend time with Him, reading His Word, Talking with Him in prayer, we learn to hear His Voice of Loving care.
God gave us a spiritual counterpart to our physical eyes and ears - to See and Hear Him by Faith. When we were physically born we learned quickly to distinguish between the voice of our mom and dad and the voices of others; because we spent most of our time with our parents. Likewise, when we were born again as a spiritual baby we begin to know the voice of Loving care of our Master because we spend lots of time with Him every day - Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; and snacks in between these meals, every day.
Listen up Warrior! Make time to be with your Commander; especially in the early morning when all is quiet. Read His Word with “an ear to hear” Him whisper revelation to you.
This is how we Cultivate A Hearing Heart. Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
