Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Kings 24)
“Destruction, the reward for the wicked”
Text: 2 Kings 24:20
“For because of the anger of the LORD this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, that He finally cast them out from His presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.”
“Destruction, the reward of the wicked,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning; as a warning to the wicked.
God’s Warning ALWAYS comes before His Destruction; because “He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked.”(Isa.33:11).
Jeremiah faithfully delivered this warning for decades in Judah, in spite of death threats, mocking, and imprisonment; yet Zedekiah and the leaders and priests of Judah hardened their hearts until there was no remedy:
“But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.”(2Chron.36:15).
Listen up Warrior! Jeremiah delivered the Warning of God not with anger but with tears! His cry to Judah was the cry to Repent and Turn Away from their wickedness! When God’s wrath of judgement fell Jeremiah didn’t rejoice - he wept!
The Faithful Warrior takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked - but is patient and Longsuffering, like their Commander Jesus Christ - “not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL would come to repentance! (2Pet.3:9).
Yes, we will face the mockers, the haters, a society that rejects godliness, and perhaps even imprisonment; our Commander faced this, Jeremiah faced this, and you and I should also be prepared to face this. Paul declared to Timothy, and you and I also as God’s Faithful Warriors:
“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them”(2Tim.3:12-14).
Listen up Warrior! We must be engaged as God’s Messengers, and Ambassadors; LIVING and Delivering the Message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This Message has both Good News and Bad News. People need to hear the “bad news” of God’s wrath - before they hear the “Good News” of God’s Grace and Mercy.
Jesus preached the Bad News First “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand (Matt.4:17).
Noah preached as a Preacher of Righteousness to an ungodly world (Gen.6:8, 9; 2 Pet.2:5)
Jonah declared the “bad news,” First to an ungodly city: “yet 40 days and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” (Jonah 3:4).
And Jeremiah delivered the Bad News of God’s Wrath, and then he delivered the Good News of God’s Mercy, Forgiveness and Restoration IF Judah would confess and repent of their sin!
Listen up Warrior! In sharing the Message of the Gospel of Christ people need to hear the Bad News of God’s Wrath on sin, First -
Then they’ll be ready and eager to hear the Good News of God’s Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness and Restoration! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
