Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Doing Right in God’s Sight”
Text: 1Kings 15:11
“Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did his father David.”
“Doing Right in God’s Sight,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. What a wonderful summary this is for a person’s life: “They Did What Was Right In the Eyes of the Lord!”
This means simply, “this person Loved God more than anyone or anything else.” We’re they perfect? No. Did they make mistakes? Yes. But at the end of the day this person Loved God more than anyone or anything else.
“Doing right in the eyes of the Lord,” is not easy in this wicked world we live in. Asa was raised by a father whose heart was not loyal to the Lord; in a land of wickedness and gross idolatry. Yet, Asa chose to “do what was right in the eyes of the Lord.”
King Asa shows us that doing what’s right in God eyes is a Personal Choice that each person can make, in spite of their family’s influence, their economic status, or social unpopularity. We choose to do right in God’s eyes Because We Love Him Supremely!
King Asa’s father’s Hebrew name at birth was Abijah, meaning God is my Father (2Chron.11:22). However, at the end of his father’s life he is called Abijam, meaning yam is my father. Yam was a Caananite god. This showed his father’s disloyalty to God during his lifetime.
Asa’s mother was the granddaughter of Absalom, King David’s son. She practiced idolatry, and Asa removed her as queen mother because of this. He did this because he Loved God Supremely, and chose to do what was right in the eyes of the Lord.
Listen up Warrior! Our Love for our Commander and King will be tested and proven in the furnace of affliction! Our Love and Devotion to God will be hated and mocked by others. Our Love and Trust in God will be tested on the Battlefield with Doubt, Fear, and Unbelief. Will we fall down and trust in the arm of flesh and blood - or will we Stand fast in Faith and Trust in our Commander and King? It’s our Choice!
The Warrior’s First Responder in Crisis is Holy Spirit, not our fellow man. Holy Spirit will direct us with the perfect will of God.
If we Do Wrong and sin, “doing right” is to Confess and Repent and resolve to learn from this wrong.
Remember this: Our Commander and Our Helper Holy Spirit is with us At All Times, Watching, Listening, and Empowering us to Do What Is Right in the Eyes of the Lord!
Warrior at your side,
