Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Num. 25:1 - 26:51)
“Enforcing The Victory!”
Text: Num. 25:11
“Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal.”
Enforcing The Victory over sin, is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God’s Victory began in Israel’s deliverance from the slavery of Egypt. In their journey to their Promised Land this Victory was Enforced by God’s repeated judgements on their sin of Unbelief. That’s what we see here today in Phinehas executing the judgement of God on Zimri and Cozbi for spiritual harlotry. It was his zeal for God that moved Phinehas to action! Zeal means: “feeling strong and energetic support for a person, a cause.” God gave Phinehas and his descendants a ‘Covenant of Peace,’ because of his zeal for God; Enforcing God’s Victory over sin.
What’s our take away lesson in this today?
Egypt and Moab are types of the broken world we live in today. We walk in this world of sin but we are separate from it, (John 17:14). We are a people zealous for Our God and His Cause. We are here to Enforce His Victory over sin; and this Enforcement begins in our heart! Enforcement begins with me and you. Our zeal for God and His Cause needs to be a ‘growing zeal.’ When we see wickedness the way Phinehas did, something rises up in us, we are personally offended by this open display of wickedness! That’s the zeal I’m talking about. King David said in Psalm 69:9 “Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up,
And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.” In other words my zeal for God has consumed me, and the offenses against God, have offended me.
We Enforce God’s Victory over sin with Confession and Repentance, when we have offended God. And we Pray that God would bring the wicked to their place of Repentance. That’s the target of our prayer for the wicked - that the goodness of God would lead them to repentance (Rom.2:4).
Listen up Warrior! Our zeal for our Commander Almighty God consumes us as we grow into His likeness. Our zeal stands watch over our heart always ready to judge any appearance of wickedness - Swiftly, with confession and repentance. We see the wicked through the lense of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as “...weary and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matt.9:36).
This is how we Enforce The Victory our Commander and King won at the Cross! Oooh Rah! Oh, let’s sing the chorus:
“At the Cross, at the Cross,
Where I first saw the Light!
And the burden of my heart
Rolled away -
It was there by Faith,
I received my sight.
And now I am happy all the day.” Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
