Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Chron. 35)
“Fighting the Wrong Fight”
Text: 2 Chron. 35:22
“Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of God. So he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo.”
“Fighting the Wrong Fight,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. How tragic this was for a godly King to die on the wrong battlefield, “in the flower of his life” at the young age of 39. King Josiah was fighting the wrong fight. He stubbornly refused to heed the words of warning from a heathen king Necho; which were actually from God! Yes, God uses the wicked as well as the righteous to do His will.
For a righteous King to go to war “without first consulting God,” is hard for me to understand. Yet this is what King Josiah did. His action should be a reminder to us that “we don’t pick and choose our fights, Our Commander does!”
We go where He goes, and we fight on the battlefield that He chooses for us to fight on! Oooh Rah!
What does this look like for the Warrior? Our battlefield is assigned to us in the War Room of our prayer closet. We can fight on multiple battlefields with supporting prayer artillery; but we also have a primary battlefield upon which we are continually engaged: “the plan of good works we were created to walk in.”(Eph.2:10)
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
This plan of good works is a battlefield for righteousness that we fight on every day as we meet with our Commander Jesus, read and chew on His Word, listen to His briefings on battle status and strategy, and execute His orders with obedience and Faith in our daily life every day. This is the right fight and the right battlefield for you and I as Warriors of God.
King Josiah failed to attend God’s Briefing of battle status in his life that day. As a result of this failure he fought on the wrong battlefield. He didn’t belong on this battlefield, and even by disguising himself didn’t change the fact that he was fighting the wrong fight!
Listen up Warrior! Keeping your Dates with Jesus every day is not an option, it’s a command from your Commander and King! It is in the War Room of your prayer closet with Him, eating Breakfast,Lunch, and Dinner with Him, that your Commander keeps you engaged on the right battlefield and focused on Fighting the Right Fight! Stay the Course Warrior and Fight the Good Fight and Keep the Faith in your Commander and King! Ooooh Rah!
Like our fellow Warrior the Apostle Paul said at the end of his life:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Tim.4:7)
Warrior at your side,
