Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Finding a Place of Repentance”
“Now when he was in affliction, he implored the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
and prayed to Him; and He received his entreaty, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.”
“Finding a Place of Repentance,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
As a monster of wickedness, Manasseh Found a Place of Repentance in his deep and severe affliction.
I’m far more amazed at the Mercy of God for Manasseh than I am horrified by the monster king he was in Jerusalem! In the record of 2Kings 21:16 “he filled Jerusalem from one end to the other with blood.”
Corrie tenBoom’s sister Betsy once said “There is no pit so deep that God’s Love is not deeper still!” Manasseh is a picture of this Truth.
In his affliction Manasseh found a place for repentance - and God was waiting there to hear his prayer, and forgive him! Aaaah Yes, this was the moment when Manasseh Knew that the LORD was God! He Knew the Love and Mercy of God by his repentance; and this humbled him more.
Repentance opened the door for Restoration and the chance to do his best to make up for the many wrongs he had done. True Repentance produces a godly lifestyle. Manasseh removed the idols from Jerusalem and the temple, and instead of teaching evil he commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel,(v.16).
Oh how Judah must have been shocked to see their wicked king return from the enemy’s prison as a godly king! This led many of the people to Find Their Place of Repentance also!
Some Bible commentators have seen Manasseh as “the Prodigal Son of the Old Testament;” because like the Prodigal in Luke 15:17, Manasseh “came to himself,” and Found A Place of Repentance.
Listen up Warrior! When Holy Spirit convicts us of sin it’s the Goodness of God’s Amazing Love and Mercy that leads us to Repentance (Rom.2:4). The Righteous Warrior has Found a Place of Repentance in their heart. We are always ready to respond to Holy Spirit’s conviction with Obedient confession and repentance. Ooooh Rah!
As we pray for unbelievers let us remember to pray with this passionate theme: “for them to Find A Place of Repentance.” Ooooh Rah!
