Good Morning Warrior!
Hallelujah! It’s The Lord’s Day!
Word for the Day:
(Deuteronomy 7:11 - 8:20)
“Finding Contentment in God’s Sufficiency”
Text: Deuteronomy 8:2
“And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.”
“Finding Contentment in God’s Sufficiency,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God’s goal with Israel in the wilderness journey was to test and prove to Israel what was in their heart; Love and Contentment in God’s Sufficiency or rebellion and stubbornness.
A heart of Love and Contentment in God’s Love and Sufficiency is a heart that loves and keeps God’s Commandments!
He’s testing and proving you and I also in our journey with Him through this wilderness of life on earth.
We’re not born with contentment we “learn” contentment by loving God more than anyone else or anything else.
And we “keep” contentment by remembering all the things God has led us through with His all sufficiency; caring, protecting, providing, loving, and fighting for us, all along the way.
“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”(Phil.4:11-13).
Aaaah, can you feel Paul’s contentment in God’s Love for him and his love for God?
Love finds contentment in all the seasons of life; in riches or poor seasons, in heathy or sickness seasons; just ask any couple who have been married more than 15 years. They grew up together and found contentment in all the seasons of life in their Love for one another…
That’s what God was looking for in Israel during these 40 years in the wilderness - and that’s what He’s looking for in you and I as we walk together with Him in the wilderness of this world.
When we forget the things God has taken us through we begin to lose the contentment we enjoyed in His All Sufficiency.
Paul remembered how God had shown His all sufficient Grace to him:
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”(2Corin.12:9-10).
We find contentment in God’s All Sufficiency when we consider all that He’s done in our life from Salvation to now! And, for all He Will do all the way home - through this wilderness to Our Home in Heaven!
I love that old song:
“I've had many tears and sorrows,
I've had questions for tomorrow,
there's been times I didn't know right from wrong.
But in every situation,
God gave me blessed consolation,
that my trials come to only make me strong.
Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to trust in Jesus,
I've learned to trust in God.
Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to depend upon His Word.”
Aaaah yes, let’s remember and rehearse what God has done in our life and re-discover our full Contentment in God’s Love and His All Sufficiency! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
