Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Chronicles 23 & 24)
Text: 2 Chronicles 24:17-18
“Now after the death of Jehoiada the leaders of Judah came and bowed down to the king. And the king listened to them.
Therefore they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served wooden images and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their trespass.”
“Finishing Well,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
To Finish Well a Warrior must build and maintain a Growing Personal Relationship with God. Many Warriors begin well but in their final years of life they drift away from God, being filled with pride and self-worship like King Saul. He started well as a humble young man but finished as a proud self-consumed man, separated from God.
That’s what happened to King Joash. He began as a little boy raised by godly Jehoiada the High Priest; and “Joash did what was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.” (2 Chronicles 24:2). However, when Jehoiada died Joash listened to the leaders of Judah and left God.
The Failure of Joash was that he never Built and Maintained a Growing Personal Relationship With God! He depended upon “Jehoiada’s Personal Relationship With God - not his own! That’s why he listened to the leaders of Israel; he needed someone to tell him what to do.
