Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 15)
Text: 2Samuel 15:21
“But Ittai answered the king and said, “As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in whatever place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also your servant will be.”
“Genuine Loyalty,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Genuine Loyalty is Proven in times of crisis; and sometimes is found from foreigners not from familiar friends.
Ittai’s Genuine Loyalty is displayed not by words only, but by his choice to “be with his king in death or life!” It’s easy to be loyal to your king when things are going well and appearances are victorious. However, when it appears that most everyone else is abandoning the king for “a younger and newer version” of the king - loyalty fades into disloyalty.....
This is King David’s world this morning. He rehearses this hurt and discouragement in Psalms 55:4-8:
“My heart is severely pained within me,
And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me,
And horror has overwhelmed me.
So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off,
And remain in the wilderness.
I would hasten my escape
From the windy storm and tempest.”
King David declared his Genuine Loyalty to God in death or life:
“Then the king said to Zadok, “Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place.
But if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.” (2Samuel 15:25-26).
The crowds followed Jesus as their Hero when miracles were displayed but on the last week of His life on earth they were screaming “crucify Him;” choosing a “new hero,” the murderer Barabbas.(Luke 23:18-21).
Listen up Warrior! People change but our Loyalty to our King must never change! We march to the Word of our Commander Jesus Christ and not the fickle words of people and troubles in this world. Yes, we are in this world but we’re Not of this world. We’re strangers just passing through this world on our way home to heaven. Our Place is with Our Commander and King; whether in death or life. Because we spend time with Him every day for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner - we hear His Voice and see His Word above all other voices and words of man.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.” (Psa.32:8).
Every trouble is a test of loyalty as to Who Will Rule Our Life; God’s Word or Man’s word.
Loyalty to our Commander Jesus Christ will always be tested in this world. This is where we are today. The world is screaming for “the next new cause,” to be “king” in their life; while the Warrior stands fast as Ittai the Gittite, and declares “... surely in whatever place my Lord the King shall be, whether in death or life, even there also Your servant will be.” The Warrior Stands with their Commander and King, resting upon His Word! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
