Good Morning Warrior! It’s The Lord’s Day - Celebration Sunday!
Word for the Day:
“God Assurance or Self Assurance?”
Text: 1Kings 19:2-3
“Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”
And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.”
The question of “God Assurance or Self Assurance,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Most of Elijah’s life was based upon God Assurance; talking and listening to God and obeying His Commands. However at this point in his life he was arrested by fear when this wicked female threatened to kill him. He ran away from a wicked woman, when 3 1/2 years earlier he had stood boldly before wicked king Ahab pronouncing God’s judgement of “no rain until God brings it!” How did this happen?
Elijah had moved from God Assurance to Self Assurance; and his great Faith and boldness evaporated into fear. He didn’t talk to God, or listen to God’s command - He Ran in fear!
Listen up Warrior! Take a lesson from the heroes of faith; “in our greatest strength and gifting we are also at our greatest vulnerability!”
When the father of faith Abraham was promised a son, the Self Assurance of pride whispered:
“what can you do to make this happen? Have a son with Sarah’s maid Hagar.” Our father of faith stumbled in unbelief; moving from God Assurance to Self Assurance.
King David, the man who loved God so much that he was called a man after God’s heart - stumbled in lust with Bathsheba....
King Solomon, the wisest man on earth at his time - became a fool in the later days of his life; moving from God Assurance to Self Assurance.
How can we avoid this failure in our life? By practicing a daily devotional walk with our Commander and King Jesus, meeting Him regularly for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. We have the Personal Helper Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all Truth - we need to talk and listen to Him and obey His commands.
Remember this! When we are strong in the Lord and the power of His might - pride is whispering the lie, “you’re really strong in your own abilities, and this power is yours.”
Here’s a picture of the Balanced Mindset:
On one end of the scale, God Owns everything and shares everything with His children -
On the other end, we His children own nothing but we manage everything.
“God Owns - We Manage”
This balanced mindset will settle us with God Assurance in all things of life. It will also guard us from the peril of Self Assurance and destruction.
Paul was given a thorn in the flesh to remind him that when he is weak in himself he is strong in the Lord. Paul Owned nothing but he Managed everything. Paul’s weakness was a platform for God’s Power to be displayed:
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”(2Corin.12:7-9).
The Warrior’s Confidence rests in God Assurance - He Is Our Source of Life! Ooooh Rah!
