Good Morning Warrior!
It’s The Lord’s Day this Morning!
Word for the Day:
“God Uses What We Have”
Text: 2Kings 4:1-2
“A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”
So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
The Principle that “God Uses What We Have,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
This widow woman had a desperate need and Elisha asked her “what do you have in the house?” God never asks us for what we don’t have. He invites us to bring Him what we do have, to meet the Challenge we face. The widow woman faced a debt she couldn’t pay and brought a small flask of anointing oil that her husband had left in the house.
God wants to Use What We Have To Build our Faith and Trust in Him.
In other words, We bring God “our possibility,”(what we have in the house) -
And God Works His Miracle in “the impossibility,” of our challenge.
This widow woman obeyed Elisha and borrowed many empty vessels - poured out the oil she had in a small flask - and filled all the vessels she had borrowed. See how her faith grew; she obeyed, she borrowed empty vessels, she poured out the little bit of oil she had into all the empty vessels - it took Faith to Do This! When she did “the possible” God did “the impossible.” She paid her debt and had enough left over to make a livelihood, a business to support herself and family.
God Uses What We Have to meet our needs.
He used a Rod in Moses hand to do miracles in Egypt.
Tomorrow morning we will see how God used the heart of compassion of a little slave girl to change a nation (2Kings 5:3).
He used the 5 loaves and 3 fish of a little boy to feed 5,000 men! God Uses What We Have and Matches What We Have With His Miracle! And He builds our Faith and Trust in Him through this process!
No matter how small or insignificant it may seem, What We Have Is Always Enough for our Commander and King.
We have the oil of Holy Spirit in us to meet the Challenges we face. And we have empty spiritual vessels of those who do not know God as their Lord and Savior. We must pour out this oil into these empty vessels until there are no more! This the oil will stop flowing.
This is a picture of Revival! The oil of Holy Spirit only fills “empty vessels;” souls that are empty of self, humbled and prepared to receive the oil!
Aaaah yes, He is the God of More Than Enough:
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph.3:20-21).
