Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 3)
“Growing Stronger In God”
Text: 2 Samuel 3:1
“Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.”
“Growing Stronger In God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. This long war between the house of Saul and the house of David is a picture of the “war” of a lifetime on earth, that we all face between Good and Evil. Man must choose a side; David, the side of God and Grace - or Saul, the side of satan the rebel loser. David made his choice to give his life to God and Grew Stronger and Stronger as he obeyed God. Saul and his house chose to give their life to satan, selfishness, and pride; and they became weaker and weaker.
Obedience to God makes us Stronger and disobedience makes us weaker.
This Spiritual War between Good and Evil is designed to make us Grow Stronger in God!
We are fed so we can Grow Up! As a baby grows with milk and learns to eat meat as a young man, so too does a new believer grow in the milk of the Word and learn to eat the meat of the Word at our Master’s Table.
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;
for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” (1Corin.3:1-3).
The Greek word “gala” for milk means the basic elemental teachings of Christian doctrine.
The Greek word “broma” for meat means more solid, complete, and deeper spiritual doctrines of the Bible.
Paul said it this way:
“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” (Heb.6:1-2).
In other words, the more we practice obedience and faithfulness to God the Stronger we become; and the grip and influence of sin becomes weaker and weaker.
Growing Stronger In God is the Fruit of Exercising our Faith By Standing fast upon God’s Word on the Battlefield of Good and Evil! God Said It - I Believe It - and That Settles It! Ooooh Rah!
