Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Joy that Swallows up Sorrow”
Text: Nehemiah 8:10
“Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
“Joy that Swallows up Sorrow,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
This morning we see the people of Israel standing in the public square attentively listening to the Book of the Law being read by Ezra from the dawn of morning until noon! The priests and Levites are among them helping them to understand the law and “give them the sense of the law.(v.7-8). Now the people see their sin and shame and are mourning and weeping in genuine sorrow and repentance. Yet as they are weeping “tears of sorrow,” Yahweh is “weeping with tears of Joy,” that His children have come back to their Father! Like the father of the prodigal son who saw his son on the way home, a great way off, had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. (Luke 15:20). Oh can you feel that father’s Joy? I can.
God’s Joy is far Greater with you and I coming back to Him!!
Nehemiah, Ezra, and the Levites quiet the people, telling them “this day is holy.... do not sorrow now, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
In other words “God’s Joy of our return to Him, Swallows up our Sorrow and Repentance - and now His Joy becomes Our Joy too!
Yes sorrow may last for the night season of genuine repentance, but joy comes in the dawn of morning as Jesus shares His joy of His brother, His sister coming home ........ with you and I. (Psa.30:5).
His Joy becomes Our Strength! Ooooh Rah!
