Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 16 & 17)
“Keeping Perspective in Affliction”
Text: 2 Samuel 16:11-12
“And David said to Abishai and all his servants, “See how my son who came from my own body seeks my life. How much more now may this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse; for so the LORD has ordered him.
It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing this day.”
The discipline of “Keeping Perspective in Affliction,” is on the menu for Breakfast this morning. Perspective is an attitude, a point of view of things in life. King David maintained his Perspective; he saw the hand of God in every circumstance. Nothing happened in his life without the permission of God.” Absalom’s treason was part of the harvest that God promised to David:
“Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.” (2Samuel 12:11).
The cursing of Shimei was “ordered by God,” to humble David and test David’s Perspective in Affliction. David could revenge Shimei’s cursing himself or let God deal with the evil. It was a test of King David’s Perspective of God in this Affliction. Can you see David’s Perspective of God in his words:
“It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing this day.” (2 Samuel 16:12).
God repaid David’s humility with the refreshment from foreigners in 2Samuel 17:27-29).
