Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Numbers 26:52 - 27:23)
Text: Numbers 27:18-19
“And the LORD said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight.”
“Leadership Continuity,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Moses had been told to prepare for his death. He will see the promised land from Mount Abarim. After this he will die. Moses is not concerned about himself, he’s concerned about Israel not having a Shepherd to lead them in and to lead them out each day. This is the heart of God for His People. This was The Heart of Jesus when He sent His disciples, and He laid hands on them, and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them (John 20:22). He ordained leadership continuity through His disciples, under-Shepherds of the flock of God.
“Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;
nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;
and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.(1Pet.5:2-4).
Jesus selected His Disciples and God selected Joshua to succeed Moses in leading Israel into their promised land of Canaan. Joshua had already been prepared for this role by Serving Moses from Egypt, through 40 years of the wilderness, and his leadership in the battle against Amalek.
Joshua had “the Spirit” of God in him as a Faithful Warrior who believed and trusted God when others did not. Joshua was “battle tested!”
God also ordered Moses to “pass the baton of leadership” to Joshua publicly so that all the congregation would know that the new leader was Joshua.
