Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Ezra 3 & 4)
“Life Begins At The Altar”
Text: Ezra 3:2
“ Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.”
Oh Hallelujah! “Life Begins At The Altar;” that’s what’s on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Altar was for the Jews what the Cross is for the Warrior; the Meeting Place of God and Mankind. That’s why “Life Begins At The Altar!”
The Altar was outside the Temple. The People had to go to the Altar first and give the priest their Sacrifice before they could enter the Holy Temple, the House of God.
This Altar was the First Structure built on the Temple Mount by these returning exiles; and it established a Meeting Place for the Jews to meet regularly with God. They brought their burnt offerings, sin offerings, and peace offerings to God morning and evening, every day!
They met with God every day, morning and evening….
The Altar was the Centerpiece of Worship for the Jew and the Cross is the Centerpiece of Worship for the Warrior.
Life Begins At The Altar and Life is Maintained From the Altar.
Our Commander is the Perfect Offering that has been given for all mankind, once and for all (Heb.10:14).
Yes, you and I have a Better Altar:
“We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.
For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.
Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.
For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”(Heb.13:10-15)
The only offering we can bring to this Altar now is our surrendered life as a Living Sacrifice to Him (Rom.12:1-2), and our Continual Praise and Thanksgiving to Him; for Who He Is and for What He Has Done for All of us.
Our Daily meetings with Him, breaking bread and eating His Word together with Him, keeps us United with Him in Fellowship as a Branch in the Vine, (John 15:1-8). Our Spiritual Life flows from the Cross, which is why Life Begins At The Altar, every day. Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
