Good Morning Warrior!
Hallelujah, It’s The Lord’s Day!
Word for the Day:
“Love and Goodness that leads to Repentance.”
Text: Genesis 44:16
“Then Judah said, “What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; here we are, my lord’s slaves, both we and he also with whom the cup was found.”
God’s “Love and Goodness that leads to Repentance,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
We’ve seen God’s Love and Goodness displayed in Joseph’s behavior toward his brothers; accusing them of being spies, placing their money back in their sacks, forcing them to bring Benjamin to him, and now placing Joseph’s silver cup in Benjamin’s sack!
Broken and desperate they have been led to this place of repentance by the Love and Goodness of God.
The Bible speaks of God’s Love and Goodness here:
“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Rom.2:4)
It’s dangerous to live with unrepented sin because we can die with sin in our heart and be lost forever!
God’s Love and Goodness created you and I with a conscience that knows right and wrong. When we refuse to repent of sin, sin moves into our conscience and lives there. Time does not erase sin, sin haunts us with guilt as it haunted Joseph’s brothers for more than 20 years. It weighs more and more heavy until we find that we can no longer bear the weight of guilt - and that’s our place of Repentance.
Why put ourself, and others, through all that misery for 20 years when we can simply confess and repent of our sin immediately, and be forgiven and restored immediately? Pride keeps us from confessing and repenting of sin.
The Love and Goodness of God has a remedy and cure for unrepented sin - the blood of Jesus Christ that erases the sin we covered up, and now cleanses our conscience from all unrighteousness! Hallelujah!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”(1John 1:9).
This is the Love and Goodness of God that leads you and I to a Lifestyle of Repentance; responding immediately to Conviction with Confession and Repentance! Oooh Rah!
