Good Morning Warrior!
It’s Pentecost Sunday!!
Word for the Day:
(Deut. 10:12 - 11:32)
“Love and Obedience”
““And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?”
Because of God’s Love for us and the Obedience of His Son Jesus, we have Pentecost Sunday today! “Love and Obedience,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Moses is reminding Israel of all the mighty miracles that God has done for them from Egypt’s bondage and through the wilderness journey. This remembrance was made to rehearse God’s Faithfulness to keep His promises to bless obedience and to curse disobedience.
In our text God connects these two words of Love and Obey in order, together, to show us the only “acceptable” Obedience is the obedience that flows from Love. We Obey the One we Love most!
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”(1John 5:2-3)
God’s commandments are not burdensome for one who is in Love with Him.
Jesus said “if you love Me you will keep My Commandments” (John 14:15). Love and Obedience brings oneness with Our Commander. Jesus prayed to His Father:
“.... that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (John 17:21-23).
This Oneness is where we rest in Faith (Heb.4:9-10), where we live, (Acts 17:28), and where we engage our spiritual enemy from! Oooh Rah! We Love our Commander Jesus Supremely because He First loved us, and because we Love Him we Obey Him unconditionally. Oooh Rah!
