Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Genesis 47:27 - 48:22)
“My Life Long Shepherd”
Text: Genesis 48:15
“And he blessed Joseph, and said:
“God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked,
The God who has fed me all my life long to this day,”
“My Life Long Shepherd,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
At the end of his life Israel is now blessing Joseph and his two sons. In this blessing Israel declares the Faithfulness of God as “the God Who has fed me all my life long to this day.” The literal translation of this is “the God Who has Shepherded me all my life long to this day.”
This is the first place in the Bible where God is referred to as Shepherd.
He was in effect saying that it was God’s Grace not his own merit that kept him safe these 147 years!
God is our Life Long Shepherd!
Our Commander Jesus Christ is our Good and Perfect Shepherd (John 10:11), Who leads, feeds, protects, and “redeems us from all evil.” His Rod corrects and protects us and His Staff provides food, still waters, and rest for us.
We meet with Him morning, noon, and evening, so we know His voice very well (John 10:3-5).
It is His Grace and our surrendered heart to Him that keeps us walking in fellowship with Him. As the Apostle John said:
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7).
Our Commander and King is Our Life Long Shepherd! Oooh Rah!
