Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Judges 1:1 - 2:5
“Our Failure and His Mercy”
Text: Judges 2:1-2
“Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you.
And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?
“Our Failure and His Mercy,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God rehearses and reminds Israel of His Love and Faithfulness in Rescuing them from Egypt, caring and providing for them in the wilderness, and causing them to triumph over their enemies in Canaan. After all this history Israel disobeys God’s Rules of Engagement, and Fails to Possess all the land God Promised to them.
And God asks them “Why have you done this?”
Can you feel the sting of these words? I can!
This morning God rehearsed and reminded me of a few things He had done in my life and challenged me “why are you hesitating Billy?”
“Aaaaah, I’m not hesitating anymore God! I’m READY, and I’m All In!”
Israel had taken their eyes off God and become comfortable in the land of Canaan.
Listen up Warrior! Obedience is not Comfortable!
The Warrior Obeys God because we Love God Supremely. We can never truly Obey God until we Walk in His Love and Abide in His Covenant (John 15:4-8)
He Loved you and I first so He could show us and teach us how to Love Him Supremely! (1John 4:19).
Disobedience was behind Israel’s failure to possess their inheritance - and disobedience is behind our failure to possess all our inheritance in Christ.
Yet in all this we do not lose heart because God’s Mercy meets our Failure with His Promise “I Will Never Break My Covenant With You.”
God’s Mercy walked with Israel through the consequences of her disobedience. Her enemies were a snare dragging many away into idolatry and the darkest time in Israel’s history. Yet God did not break His Covenant with her.
Our disobedience has consequences; we reap what we sow (Gal.6:7-10). Yet we don’t grow weary, we grow wiser by obeying and reaping the precious fruit from obedience. God’s Mercy is walking with us whispering “I will NEVER leave you or abandon you; we’ll get through this journey home, together, because I’m The Way Home, The Truth along the Way, and the Life Forever.”
Our Failure reminds us of Our Need for God’s Grace and Mercy all the time. Remember this Warrior, You and I are “under construction”, and “a work in progress;” be patient with yourself and rest in Your Commander’s Promise:
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”(Phil.1:6).
Warrior at your side,
