Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
Text: Joshua 7:1-2
“But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the LORD burned against the children of Israel.
Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” So the men went up and spied out Ai.”
“Prayerful Leadership,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. It was Prayerful Leadership that led Moses to lead Israel from Egypt to Canaan. Continual consultation with Almighty God.
Prayerful Leadership led Joshua and Israel to conquer Jericho miraculously, as they obeyed God’s Instructions they received from Prayer.
Listen up Warrior! The lesson of this Word For Today is that Prayer-less Leadership brings a curse to the leader, and the household or nation that they lead.
God says to us today:
“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2Chron.7:14).
Confident over God’s victory over Jericho, Joshua did not Pray and Consult with his Commander, God of Battles (Lord of Hosts); like he did next to Jericho. Joshua’s prayer-less leadership sent spies to spy out the land of Ai; and later sent 3,000 Warriors to attack Ai - and failed! 36 men died because of prayer-less leadership.
Had Joshua prayed and consulted God First, God would have revealed the sin of Achan, that had brought the curse of God upon Achan’s life, his household and the nation of Israel!
On the same thought, Achan’s prayer-less leadership of his life and his family, hardened his heart, and the hearts of his family; desiring the wealth they saw in the garment, gold and silver.
Prayerful Leadership would have prevented both of these events from happening. What would this Prayerful Leadership look like for these men?
Prayerful Leadership for Joshua would have been fearing God, not willing to do any action of war without consulting God First!
Prayerful leadership for Achan would have been seeing the garment, gold, and silver “through eyes of Faith,” and hating it because it was cursed by God.
Wrapping up this Lesson this morning:
“The Warrior Leads themself in Prayer first, and then all they lead will be influenced to do the same. Our Prayerful Leadership brings a blessing upon our life, our household, and all others we influence. When we Lead Ourself First in the Ways of God we can then lead others with Prayerful Leadership. Let this season of testing draw us into deeper intimacy with our Commander, listening to Him and speaking with Him each day. Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
