Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Preparing for the Blessing”
Text: 2Kings 3:16-17
“And he said, “Thus says the LORD: Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the LORD: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’”
“Preparing for the Blessing,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. God allows impossible challenges in our life to make room for His participation with us. He Performs the Impossible and we Perform the Possible; and together we do life in this world.
God’s Promise of flooding the desert with water was Impossible, that’s why it’s God’s Responsibility to do this. Israel was told to “dig ditches in the desert;” that’s Possible so that’s Israel’s Responsibility.
Our Responsibility is To Prepare for the Blessing; put our faith into action - before the answer arrives!
Response to God’s Promise is not passive but Active. We must Act upon God’s Promise by Preparing for the Blessing. This action of Faith is what God requires to receive the Blessing He has Promised. God instructed Israel to “dig ditches in the desert of Edom,” to prepare for a flood! This makes no sense to the common man.
Sometimes God tells us to do something that makes no sense in order to Prepare for the Blessing He has promised us. I’m sure the weary soldiers were grumbling and complaining “digging ditches in the powder dry desert!” But they were happy the next day when the flood came in morning dawn....
Without the “preparation” of the ditches, to contain the water, the flash flood would have passed by all the soldiers and animals leaving them thirsty.
Our lesson in this event is when we pray, we must pray the Promises of God’s Word with Expectancy! Prepare for the Blessing by acting as if the Blessing is coming immediately. Begin to prepare.
This reminds me of a story in the movie Facing the Giants, of two farmers praying for rain. After praying, one farmer went home and waited for the rain to come - the other farmer began to dig ditches preparing for the rain when it came. The one who prepared was the one who received the Blessing.
Listen up Warrior! Prepare for Rain, because when it comes - and it Will Come, you will be ready to contain it and distribute it to those who are thirsty. You are blessed to BE a blessing to others. Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
