Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 24)
“Proven By Temptation”
Text: 2 Samuel 24:1
“Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, “Go, number Israel and Judah.”
“Proven By Temptation,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. What is in our heart is Proven By Temptation. With Adam and Eve in the Garden, and Israel in the wilderness; God allowed the devil to tempt them “that He might know what was in their heart.”
“And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.” (Deut.8:2-3).
This is what we see here with King David, as God allowed satan to move David to number Israel and Judah. This is clarified by reading 1Chron.21:1 which also records this same event:
“Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.”
This temptation from satan was allowed by God to “Prove what was in David’s heart.” Would David Trust in God Alone - or would he Trust in the numbers of his Warriors?
He failed this test and 70,000 men died from a plague.
Listen up Warrior! We Are Proven by Temptation. So get this clear in your mind right now. You Will be tempted continually in your journey through this world, Not by God but by the devil. Your Commander allows the enemy to tempt you so you can exercise your Faith and Obedience to God’s Word - and put this enemy down hard! Again and again, and again....
The more he tempts us the stronger we grow in our Faith, as we Depend upon our Helper Holy Spirit to Remind us and Empower us with God’s Word! We exercise with “resistance training;” the way we physically exercise in the gym.
Resist the devil with the power of Holy Spirit and the Word of God and he flees from you! Ooooh Rah!
James reminds us of this:
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (James 1:12-15).
The Warrior’s Faith is “Battle Tested,” and Proven by Temptation! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
