Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
"Rebuilding the Altar"
"Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God."
Breakfast this morning shows us the first order of business for the returning people of God - rebuilding the Altar of God, and restoring morning and evening offerings to Him.
God had given the people "one mind," as they gathered together "as one man" in Jerusalem. After this 4 month journey from Babylon the people of God had one mind - to restore regular worship to God, freewill offerings, and morning and evening offerings.
This is the pattern for restoring a broken relationship with God - rebuilding the broken down and neglected altar, so we can worship and praise our King and Commander.
When the Warrior misses their regular times of worship and praise to God, their altar in their heart is neglected. They missed their Date with Jesus.
His presence is not as intimate as before. We feel this distance, and right away run to our Altar with repentance, and praise and worship Him for His goodness and His faithfulness.
Israel's Altar was burned and broken down because of neglect. When they were released from captivity the altar was the first thing they restored, to restore the Presence of God with them.
After we repent we need to rebuild our "altar" also; with praise and worship to our Commander and King. We maintain our altar with daily regular offerings of praise and worship as "a living sacrifice..."(Rom.12:1-2); with the consuming fire of Holy Spirit Himself "purifying our hearts as we obey the Truth" (1Pet.1:22).
As we keep our Dates with Jesus, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; our Altar will burn brightly, Cleansing us and Shining His Light in us and through us for all to see. We are the light of the world (Matt.5:14).
We Guard our Altar as we Guard our Heart (Prov.4:23).
