Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Rest in His Harvest Forever”
Text: Leviticus 23:3, 10
“Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.”
“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest.”
The Command to “Rest in His Harvest Forever,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Law of Moses commanded that 6 days of each week were allowed to work but the 7th day was to be a Holy Day of Rest; this was called the Sabbath.
Israel was to Rest one day each week.
The Law of Moses also required that when Israel reaped their first harvest, each year, in the Promised land, they should bring “the first sheave” of the harvest, as the “first fruits” of the harvest to the priest as an offering to the LORD.
As I was chewing on these verses about Resting, I thought about the New Covenant we have with Jesus, our Commander.
Jesus is LORD of the Sabbath and the Sabbath was made for us to rest; not be burdened with what had become a ritual.
“And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”(Mark 2:27).
Israel got to rest one day a week, but you and I get to rest each and every day because Our Commander Jesus IS Our Sabbath of Rest; We Rest In Him and His Grace and Mercy as Lord of the Sabbath, every day! We cease from our works of depending upon ourself - to depend upon Him and His Grace and Mercy.
We Work every day and Rest every night; and our work on the Lord’s Day is a Holy Day of Resting in His Presence and celebrating His Goodness!
We work “while it is day, because the night comes when no man can work.”
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9:4-5).
Jesus spoke these words regarding His Life on earth. The “Day” was the period of time He would be on the earth; and the “night” was the Cross that marked His finished work; where His last words would be spoken, “It Is Finished.” (John 19:30).
We Rest in Him knowing that He will finish His Work that He Started in us (Phil.1:6).
Our “Day,” is the Plan of Good Works that God has prepared for you and I to walk in; it has a beginning and an ending on earth. (Eph.2:10); and our “Night,” is only a momentary shadow we pass through from earth to glory - because Jesus is ALSO “The First Born From The Dead!” (Col.1:18).
He is “The First Sheave,” of the “First Fruits,” of the Harvest of Eternal Life! Oh HALLELUJAH!
He IS Our REST and Our HARVEST of Eternal Life Forever!
We Rest In His Harvest Forever!
