Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Resting upon the finished work of Jesus”
Text: Exodus 31:16
“Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.”
“Resting upon the finished work of Jesus,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Sabbath for Israel was a shadow of the New Covenant and future finished work of Jesus on the cross. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Matt.12:8). Jesus Himself is our Sabbath and our Rest!
“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.” Heb.4:9-10)
Warrior’s Depend on God’s work in them to strengthen and empower us to do our labor for God:
“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”(Phil.2:13).
God's rest comes in two parts:
First, we enter God's rest when we believe in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. “For we who have believed enter that rest …” (Heb.4:3). We enter God's rest when we believe and are saved, (Rom.10:9-10)
Secondly, the final consummation of God's rest comes with Christ's return in the rapture of the Church.
Without resting in the finished work of Jesus you and I are left to our own feeble strength and flawed nature; and we become overwhelmed with futile and fruitless activity.
Let’s enter the rest of Jesus Our Sabbath and Commander; and REST In Him and His Continual Work of Transformation in You and I. It’s like resting “in the eye of the storm.”
Aaaah Yes, “His yoke is Easy and His burden is Light,” (Matt.11:30) because You and I are “Resting in the finished work of Jesus! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
