Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Sacrificing Our Promise from God”
Text: Genesis 22:8
“And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.”
The Truth that “God Will Provide,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God is Commanding Abraham to Sacrifice his dearest Promise from God, to God the Promiser!
Abraham’s Faith and Trust was ‘In the Promiser,’ More than it was in the Promise. Abraham had the Promise to be a father of nations and a blessing to all the families of the earth; through Isaac, his son of Promise. Now God is commanding him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice to God.
Abraham had grown to this place of Faith and Trust in God on the battlefields of righteousness. He believed that God would raise up Isaac from the ashes to fulfill His Promise! (Hebrews 11:17-19).
This was a clear type of God the Father giving up His Only Son; “God will provide for Himself a Lamb for a burnt offering.”
Abraham’s Love for Isaac was a mirror of Our Heavenly Father’s Love for His Only Son Jesus Christ; the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world.(John 1:29).
This is the first time in the Bible the word Love is used; and it is used in the context of a father and his son, his only son (Gen.22:2).
Isaac even carried the wood he would be sacrificed upon (v.6) as Messiah would carry a wooden cross He would be crucified upon.
Abraham Sacrificed his dearest Promise from God, to God; because he Trusted the Promiser MORE than he Trusted the Promise of being a father of nations and a blessing to all the families of the earth.
If we’re not careful, while we’re waiting for the promise to come to pass. we can put God’s Promise before God, and feel that it’s our responsibility to make it come to pass, even if we have to disobey God to do it!
That’s what Abraham did with Hagar.
I’ve been tested more than a few times on God’s Promises to me, “my Isaac’s;” and brought back to the altar where I laid the Promise back into God’s hands. He has fulfilled many Promises but there are more unfulfilled promises ahead of me. I’m growing to Trust God to Fulfill each of His Promises in His Time and His Way; and to keep “my Isaac’s,” the dearest promises of God, in His Hands.
The Safest Place for your Isaac to be is in the hands of Almighty God.
The Warrior Trusts the Promiser First, then the Promise Comes to pass in His Perfect Time and His Perfect Way, as we Trust and Obey Him. Oooooh Rah!
