Good Morning Marines and Warriors!
Word for the Day:
“Seeing the Mocker through God’s Eyes”
“So the runners passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, as far as Zebulun; but they laughed at them and mocked them.”
This morning for Breakfast we see a common challenge to the Warrior - the Mocker.
Many times we are rewarded with the evil of mocking when we share the goodness of the Gospel to others (Psa.109:5).
Hezekiah, in his passionate pursuit of God, is inviting the 10 tribes of Israel to return to God and celebrate His Goodness and Mercy in the feast of Passover.
His invitation is met with the mocking of most of the people.
Oh, the terror that waits for the mocker who laughs at God’s offer of Mercy (Prov.1:22-33). The seeds of mocking they sowed will reap a crop of God’s Wrath (Gal.6:7).
Mocking makes the bonds of lawlessness stronger (Isa.28:22) and in a few years Assyria will be at the door of Samaria to lead all 10 tribes into captivity.
Yet all this may have been averted if Israel would have repented and accepted God’s invitation of Mercy.
Hezekiah was not distracted by this but continued to lead Judah and the few from Israel who accepted his invitation into a great Passover celebration.
Hezekiah saw this as a spiritual battle not a physical battle.
This is how we fight, my fellow Warrior!
We have to see the mocker the way God sees them - and God will help us do this!
When we see them through the eyes of God we see a person blind and ignorant who doesn’t know they are just a puppet in the devil’s hand.
Yes, the devil is behind every mocker; using their ignorance, their emotions, and their physical body. The person doesn’t even realize they’re being used!
We know what they don’t know; the severity and terror that awaits this mocker (2Corin.5:11) - so we pray for them, that God would open their blind eyes to see the Hope of the Gospel.
The devil wants us to fight this spiritual battle as a “physical” battle - by getting angry, shouting insults back at the mocker, and behaving like the mocker, and losing our integrity as a Warrior of God.
Don’t be tricked into this response. Speak the Truth in Love, not anger (Eph.4:15); to everyone inside or outside the family of God.
Look at how Our Commander fought this battle as Son of Man. He was mocked, beaten, humbled, and crucified; and through it all He prayed “Father Forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).
Listen up Warrior. We are the fragrance of Christ to those who are being saved - and to those who are perishing ... 2Corin.2: 15-16).
Mocking is a certainty of life that will happen to the Warrior who engages the enemies of God. It’s a spiritual battle not a physical battle so it must be engaged with spiritual weapons (2Corin.10:3-6). We are armed with the ultimate weapons of spiritual weaponsoutlined in Eph.6:10-20.
The Warrior sees mocking as a cry for help from a blind person. We respond accordingly with prayer and a godly lifestyle that brings shame and hopefully repentance to the mocker’s life.(1Pet.3:16). Oooh Rah!
