Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Kings 10)
“Serving God with a Loyal Heart”
Text: 2 Kings 10:31
“But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin.”
“Serving God with a Loyal Heart,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Jehu shows us that one can Serve God but not Walk with God. Many times God uses the wicked who do not walk with Him as instruments to judge the wicked; like the the armies against Jehoshaphat:
“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.” (2Chron.20:22-23).
Jehu’s “outward service,” was good; fulfilling God’s command to destroy wicked Ahab’s house. However Jehu neglected the most important “inner service,” of a Loyal Heart; “he took no heed to walk in the Law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart.” We see the “inner service” of Jehu was self-pride, to display his zeal for others to see - instead of displaying God’s Glory and honoring God with a Loyal Heart.
“Then he said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD.” So they had him ride in his chariot.” (Jeremiah 10:16).
This was the ultimate failure of Jehu that Hosea records in Hosea 1:4.
Listen up Warrior! Check your heart regularly to see the health of your “inner service.” Asking ourself “why do I do what I do.” “Why do I live the way I live?” “To be seen and respected by others; or to Honor and Glorify My Commander and King?”
The Warrior Serves God to Honor Him and to make His Glory Known by others.
It’s good to join King David in his frequent prayer in Psalm 139: 22-23:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”
Our Helper Holy Spirit will help us by reminding us to “keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.”(Prov. 4:23).
Let your “inner service” Always guide your “outer service” to our Commander and King! This is how we Serve God With A Loyal Heart! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
