Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Samuel 30 & 31)
“Standing Alone With God”
Text: 1 Samuel 30:6
“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
“Standing Alone With God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
This is where David is this morning. He and his men have covered 75 miles in 3 days from Aphek to Ziglag, and their tired, weary, and expecting to be refreshed by their families with they arrive home - and they find their home burned to the ground and their families gone! Everything is gone! Their distress is so great they are talking of stoning their Commander David!
David too has lost everything, except His Shepherd….
“…David Strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”
David was Alone With God!
This is a good place to be in, not a bad place. All his support of family, possessions, and even his fellow warriors are talking about stoning him - and David’s empty, ready to be filled with the Strength of God! Ooooh Rah!
Listen up my Friend and Fellow Warrior! “You Will Never Know That Jesus Is All You Need Until Jesus Is All You Have!” Until you Stand Alone With God Empty…
Every Warrior Will have these “moments” when they Stand Alone With God. These are the anchors of our Faith that hold us steady in times of great distress, when all seems lost. Our Commander Jesus IS STILL STANDING WITH US. “…. For He is faithful Who has said I will never leave you nor forsake you…” (Heb.13:5).
David “encouraged himself,” in the Lord his God:
Remembering and Rehearsing to himself the Love of his Shepherd, the Presence of God, the Mercy of God, the Calling of God, the Wondrous Deliverance of God from the Lion, the bear, Goliath, and Saul, and now the rejection of the Philistine leaders that kept him from having to fight his own people!
David’s words to himself in 1Samuel 27:1 got him in this mess - and now these words in our text get him out of this mess!
When was the last time you Stood Alone With God? Maybe you’re Standing Alone With God today! Encourage yourself n the Lord your God as David did, and remember and rehearse the wonderful works God has done in your life!
I remember these times and I rehearse them regularly in my praise and worship with God.
I love to sing that old chorus and make it a New Song in my heart:
“Through it all, through it all,
I’ve learned to Trust in Jesus
I’ve learned to Trust in God.
Through it all, yes, through it all
I’ve Learned To Depend Upon His Word.”
Aaaaah yes! It’s thrilling and refreshing to meditate for awhile on the wonderful works of God in our life. The miracles in the Past are the prophecies fulfilled in our Present challenges, and our hope in our Future challenges - because our Commander Jesus Christ is UNCHANGEABLE! He is the Same TODAY that He was In YESTERDAY’S Past Miracles AND HE WILL BE FOREVER!
Listen up Warrior! Be Prepared To Stand Alone With God, and Strengthen Yourself In God Alone, by Remembering and Rehearsing His Wonderful Works in your Life! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
