Good Morning Warrior!
It’s The Lord’s Day, Hallelujah!
Word for the Day:
“Starting and Finishing Well”
Text: 1 Kings 11:4
“For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.”
This Principle of Life, “Starting and Finishing Well,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
God had a Plan of Good Works for Solomon to fulfill; and he Started Well, humble, obedient, and small in his own eyes “as a little child not knowing how to go out or come in.”(1Kings 3:7).
However, Solomon did not Finish Well because his lust and pride turned his heart away from God and to himself….
Listen up by Warrior! The Only Way To Start Well and Finish Well Is To Follow Your Commander in Love, Trust, and Obedience From The Beginning To The End! That’s what King David did and why God called him “a Man after His Heart.”
So the Key to Starting and Finishing Well is “Following God From Beginning to End.”
This is our Take Away Lesson from King David and his son King Solomon.
This is why Jesus tells you and I to First: to Come unto Me, learn from Me, and put My Yoke of Grace on - (Matt.11:28-30). Then He tells you and I to: Follow Me and I’ll Make You Like Me, a fisherman who will catch souls for Me. (Matt.4:19).
He has a Plan of Good Works Prepared for you and I to walk in (Eph.2:10) from beginning to end, and we can Only Do This By Following Him in Love, Trust, and Obedience All The Way; because HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE (John 14:6).
He knows that we will stray away like most sheep do, and that’s why He has given us Holy Spirit to Convict us of sin, and bring us to confession and the privilege of repentance to get you and I back on the pathway of “our plan of good works.” He is with you and I all the way, meeting with us every day when we have Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner together with Him, and He helps you and I APPLY what we Learn from Him To Our Life every day.
You see, Solomon shows you and I that we can have Wisdom WITHOUT Understanding. Wisdom is fearing God and Knowing what to do - Understanding is APPLYING Wisdom to our Life.
Solomon wrote many Proverbs of Wisdom but failed to APPLY this Wisdom to his life. He wrote:
“Hell and Destruction are never full;
So the eyes of man are never satisfied.” (Prov.27:20). Yet he broke every law that God gave to the King if Israel; forbidding the king to multiply horses to himself, multiply wives to himself, and not multiply gold and silver to himself - and the king should write a personal copy of the law and meditate upon it daily. (Deut.17:14-20).
This Was the Difference between King David and his son King Solomon; David followed God from the beginning to the end with a heart of repentance and Solomon did not.
Stay Close To Your Commander, Warrior. Don’t miss your Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner dates with Jesus, and Apply What You Learn from Him to your Life every day - and You Will Finish Well. Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
