Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“The Bait of Temptation; Dead On Arrival!”
Text: Num. 22:7
“So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner’s fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak.”
Our menu this morning for Breakfast considers the bait of temptation.
The ‘bait,’ of temptation is designed for our fleshly desires. The ‘bait’ for Balaam was the “diviner’s fee,” and “great honor,” (v.17). Obviously, Balaam was a soothsayer, well known by others, to bless and curse people ‘for a price;’ the “wages of unrighteousness.”
The bait of temptation used by our enemy takes three forms (1John 2:15-17):
Lust of the flesh designed for our sensual desires..
Lust of the eye designed for desire of material wealth....
The Pride of Life designed for desire of Position, Power and Authority. For Balaam, the lust of the eye and the pride of life were designed for his “... heart trained in covetous practices,” (2Pet. 2:12-17)
The Warrior’s heart that is filled with the heart of their King has no appetite for the bait of temptation. The Treasure we have in our heart as joint heirs with Jesus Christ is Far Greater than anything this world or the devil could ever offer!
The bait of temptation ‘proves’ what is the desire of our heart - the Things of God or the things of this world! God does not tempt people, the devil does; and any worldly desire in people eats the bait, conceives sin, and that leads to death (James 1:14-15).
When temptation knocks on the door of a Warrior’s heart, God answers the Door and Temptation is Dead On Arrival! Oooh Rah!
