Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Genesis 41:50 - 42:38)
“The Burden of Sin”
Text: Genesis 42:21
“Then they said to one another, “We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.”
“The Burden of Sin,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
While God made Joseph “forget all his toil and his father’s house,”(Gen.41:51), Joseph’s brothers were tormented by the Burden of their sin. Their guilt was a daily burden that drove Peace far from them.
I remember my life as an unbeliever, living in a family that feared God; and the Burden of sin and shame I carried as a lawless rebel. My life was packed with doubt, fear, and unbelief Until I found my place of Repentance!
Oh Hallelujah! I love this song:
“At the Cross, At the Cross where I first saw the Light
And the Burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by Faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day!”
My years spent in lawlessness were foolish because it was all unnecessary. I could have laid down my burden of sin any time, because Jesus was there waiting to forgive me and restore me to Himself IF I confessed and repented of my sin.
Joseph’s brothers are headed to their place of repentance up ahead. It is at this place of confession and repentance that “the Burden of their sin will be rolled away and they will find Forgiveness and Restoration with God and their brother Joseph.
Our Commander Jesus Christ invites everyone to come to Him and lay down their heavy Burden of sin against God and man - confess and repent of it, and receive His Forgiveness and Restoration to Himself and our fellow man.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt.11:28-30).
In sharing the Gospel with others we should remember our days of bearing the Burden of sin, and ask the unbeliever this question:
“Why bear the heavy yoke of sin when you can exchange it for the light and easy yoke of Love, Grace, and Mercy that connects you to God?”
The Faithful Warrior does not bear the Burden of sin because you and I are quick to confess and repent of sin. You and I bear the light and easy yoke of our Commander’s Love, Grace, and Mercy and this helps you and I live a Lifestyle of Repentance. Oooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
