Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“The Court of Conscience”
Text: Genesis 44:16
“When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Take these men to my home, and slaughter an animal and make ready; for these men will dine with me at noon.”
“The Court of Conscience,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Every act of kindness convicts a heart of wickedness as Guilty of evil in the Court of Conscience.
Joseph’s brothers have been carrying this guilty conscience for about 30 years. What a mess they have made in their family.
Now it is time to reap their harvest for the seed of evil they have sown:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”(Gal.6:7-8).
This act of kindness from Joseph inviting them to his house for lunch was seen through their guilty conscience as a trap to enslave them all.
Through this season of harvest Joseph was not acting in revenge; he was acting in love, with the goal of bringing true repentance of sin from his brothers - and restoration of their relationship with him.
This is what our Commander Jesus did with you and I. His Love confronted us with our sin in the Court of our Conscience, and brought you and I to confession and repentance of sin. This brought restoration of relationship with Him!
“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Rom.2:4).
It is a hardened heart and a conscience that is seared with a hot iron (1Tim.4:2), that “despises the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long suffering.”
Finally, the Court of Conscience is where Holy Spirit our Helper presides as Judge:
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” (John 16:8-11).
Let us be quick to confess and repent of sin in the Court of Conscience so we can “walk in the Light in Fellowship with our Commander and King:
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7).
