Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“The Day of Atonement”
Text: Leviticus 23:32
“It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.”
“The Day of Atonement” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Day of Atonement was a day of humbling and observance of the finished work of the promised Messiah. The humbling of self-affliction of their soul, reflecting upon their sin, began on the evening of the ninth day and lasted until the evening of the tenth day. It was a Sabbath day of rest and no one was allowed to work.
This was a picture of the work of Jesus, our Perfect Sacrifice on the Cross; He Alone Is Our Atonement. The Warrior is humbled by His Love, Suffering and dying for our sin - and we rest in His Completed work of redemption on the Cross…. We can add nothing to His work.
Day Six of Passion Week
The body of Jesus laid in the tomb all day on Saturday which was the Sabbath, guarded by Roman soldiers. At 6pm when Sabbath ended Nicodemus and Joseph wrapped the body of Jesus with 75 pounds of perfumed spices (John 19:39-40).
While His body was on earth Jesus presented the blood of His Perfect Sacrifice to His Father in Heaven as Our Atonement.
“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,
from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”(Heb.10:12-14).
He conquered death both physically and spiritually as our Atonement!
“Thank You Lord for being The Atonement for my life. Oh Jesus, in the mirror of Your Perfect Love I see my sin and I’m undone and humbled by what You’ve done for me. Your Grace and Mercy gives me the breath I breathe right now, and I have no life without You! Help me enter into Your rest by depending and trusting in what You have already done for me on the Cross. I have no confidence in myself. My confidence is in You Alone. Thank You Jesus, for helping me to rest in You Alone. In Your Mighty Name I pray, Amen and Amen!”
