Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Chronicles 3:1 - 4:23)
“The Distinctive of Honor Before God.”
Text: 1 Chronicles 4:9,10
“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.”
“The Distinctive of Honor Before God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Jabez was “more honorable than his brothers” because he prayed! He didn’t let his name define him, he used his name to inspire him to Pray! Jabez served God and he lived to do good because he was a man of Prayer. The blessing of God, the enlargement of his territory of influence, and God’s hand upon his life was so that he could do more good. And to insure that he did not become proud and arrogant from this abundance of blessing, Jabez asked God:
“to keep him from evil, so that he would not cause pain.”
Jabez knew that only God could keep his heart from evil, Because he was a Man of Prayer.
These two verses in the middle of these genealogies was placed there to both refresh and challenge you and I as Warriors of God!
This Distinctive Honor Before God belonged to Jabez, in spite of his name that means “he brings pain.” Jabez prayed directly to God and this changed a curse into a blessing; and refreshed you and I, as well as challenged us to continue to make Prayer a Distinctive of our life.
Prayer is a defining distinctive of a Faithful Warrior’s Life.
It was with our Commander Jesus Christ:
“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”(Mk.1:35),
and is must also be with you and I as His Warrior!
You and I are expected to pray without ceasing; praying as we work at our job, in our school classroom, doing our housework, working in the yard, and quieting a crying baby ……
We can and must maintain an attitude of prayer - listening as well as speaking to God, silently or audibly; this is how we pray without ceasing. (1Thess.5:17).
God Honors Prayer and He Honors the one like Jabez who prays without ceasing! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
