Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1 Chronicles 7)
“The Empty Legacy of Idolatry”
Text: 1 Chronicles 7:12
“Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir, and Hushim was the son of Aher.”
“The Empty Legacy of Idolatry,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
In reading through these genealogies I realized Dan was missing. Hidden in the end of Benjamin’s genealogy is this verse referring to “the sin of Aher. I found that Aher was better translated as Abomination, or “son’s of abomination.” Many commentators believe this was a reference to the tribe of Dan, known for their gross idolatry.
Hidden in all these genealogies was The Empty Legacy of Idolatry. One Name, Aher, alone, and All his descendants were called “son’s of abomination.” That’s The Empty Legacy of Idolatry.”
It began in The city of Dan where Jereboam made idols and set them up in both Dan and Bethel (meaning the House of God) and declared to Israel behold these are your gods.
“Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!”
And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.
Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.” (1Kings 12:28-30).
What made this so tragic is that Jereboam’s idolatry was not limited to himself alone, he “taught all Israel to sin by this idolatry also!”
These idols were in the House of God and caused Israel to sin for hundreds of years provoking God’s judgement with the captivities of Assyria and Babylon……

He’s tested me in war in Ethiopia with my family’s safety; and preserved us. He tested me in surrendering His Ministry in Ethiopia to Him alone - and then restored His Ministry to me saying “I was testing you Billy to see if you would choose Me instead of Ethiopia.”
He will test where our Supreme Love is, because He Loves You and I.
