Good Morning Warrior!
Word For The Day:
(2 Samuel 20)
“The Enemy Within”
Text: 2 Samuel 20:1-2)
“And there happened to be there a rebel, whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite. And he blew a trumpet, and said:
“We have no share in David,
Nor do we have inheritance in the son of Jesse;
Every man to his tents, O Israel!”
So every man of Israel deserted David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah, from the Jordan as far as Jerusalem, remained loyal to their king.”
“The Enemy Within,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
In this time of joyful celebration of “bringing back the King,”there was an unseen enemy moving among all the people: “rebellion,” typified in Sheba.
This enemy is unseen because he is a spiritual enemy in every human being that has been inherited from the first man, Adam.
As God is brought back as King in our life, our spiritual enemy we know as “the old nature of rebellion, the old man,” rises up to declare “we have no share in David, nor have we an inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tent.” In other words “Go home everyone and follow me, the old man, the old ways of sin that you know so very well….”
King David took care of that quickly by removing Shebna from this planet.
Yes, our primary spiritual enemy is within us; but he Has No Power Because He’s DEAD!
Like his father the devil, he tries to imitate our Commander’s resurrection, trying to rise up again, but the Warrior Crucifies him Again, and Again, and Again; every day!
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”(Gal.2:20).
Every time we crucify this old man, he gets weaker and our New Man gets Stronger.
Yes, this is a spiritual battle and only spiritual weapons are effective in this fight! The primary weapons to deploy against this primary enemy are The Word of God and Prayer with the Holy Spirit! Ooooh Rah! Oh Yes, the Faithful Warrior Knows These Weapons Well Because He Uses Them Every Day! Oooooh Rah!
All of Israel left King David and followed Sheba, “But the men of Judah remained Loyal To Their King!” These were the True and Faithful Warriors of God.
Listen up Warrior! This is a Fight Every Day for you and I. This is why Paul says “I Die Daily!” Paul faced death every day for preaching the Gospel (1Corin.15:31).
And you and I choose to die to our old man so we can live as our new man. We take up our cross (where we show off our old man crucified) - Daily; by the way we live, the way we behave, the way we Love, and the way we Serve! Jesus Commands us to Live This Way:
“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”(Luke 9:23).
This is how the Faithful Warrior deals with the Enemy Within! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
