Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Exodus 1:1 - 2:22)
“The Food of Affliction”
Text: Exodus 1:12
“But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.” “The Food of Affliction,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
This principle of affliction being “food” for believers is found throughout the Bible.
Here in Egypt, the favored status of Israel has died with Joseph and the Pharaoh he served. Israel has now come “from the Palace of favor to the Prison of slavery.”
We don’t grow much, spiritually, in the Palace of favorable circumstances; our growth comes primarily from the sufferings and affliction we “pass through.” Yes, sufferings and afflictions are only for a season. They have a beginning and an ending! And when they end, they leave behind the bonus of Greater Faith and Trust in God’s Faithfulness!
The more Israel was afflicted the more they grew and multiplied; so much so that “the fear and dread of them” was on Egypt.
Joshua and Caleb understood this principle when they told their fearful brethren not to fear the giants of Canaan:
“Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” (Num.14:9).
Listen up Warrior! Fearing the people of the land is rebellion against the LORD!
From Abraham to Jacob, about 215 years, Jacob grew to 70 people.
The next 215 years Israel will grow from the “food” of their suffering to over 2 million people. Yes, the Righteous Warrior will taste affliction more than a few times in life. Our Commander Jesus Christ has “promised us” trials and persecutions:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).
Jesus Christ our Commander has Overcome ALL the afflictions of this world, and His Victory is Our Victory Too!
Faith is Grown in the Furnace of Affliction. And God’s All Sufficient Grace is Released upon the Warrior as they pass through their seasons of affliction! Ooooh Rah!
Paul also reminds Timothy of this necessary food of persecution:
“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2Tim. 3:12).
So be encouraged and strengthened in your affliction Warrior. Your Commander’s All Sufficient Grace is with you and upon you at all times. Rest in this and Stand Strong in the Power of His Might! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
