Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Kings 21:19 - 22:20)
“The Greatness of a Tender Heart”
Text: 2 Kings 22:19
“because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the LORD.”
“The Greatness of a Tender Heart,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The Greatness of King Josiah was found in his tender heart; and his tender heart grew from his passion for God! At 8 years old he became king of Judah after his father Amon was assassinated. In spite of a wicked father, Amon, and a wicked grandfather, Manasseh; Josiah “... did what was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.” 2Kings 22:2).
Josiah’s tender heart at 8 years old began to grow when at the age of 16 “he began to seek the God of his father David; and at 20 years old he began to purge Judah and Israel of all idolatry!
“For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images.”(2 Chron.34:3).
In the midst of a wicked house and a wicked people Josiah Maintained and even Grew a tender heart! How could he do this? By Staying Connected to God as his Source with Prayer and Obedience. It was the Greatness of a Tender Heart that made Josiah Great. He maintained his connection with God through all the wickedness he lived among.
We can do this too! We can keep our heart tender and sensitive in this cruel and wicked world by maintaining our connection with God in Prayer and Obedience like Our Commander Jesus did, and King Josiah.
We can Pray Without Ceasing! (1 Thess.5:17).
What I mean is, we can talk to God anywhere, anytime, and anyway we want to. When the baby’s crying, the phone’s ringing, and someone’s at the door. When the boss at work is loading you down with a project, or the driver next to you cuts in front of you. We can speak to God silently in public or out loud if alone; God hears and answers and advises us reminding us that He’s with us in all the events of life.
We can make time, take a short break, and silently talk to God wherever we are, at anytime. As we do this, day after day, we will soon begin to enjoy and even look forward to these “prayer breaks,” that are sprinkled throughout our daily routine.
And the tenderness of our heart will grow and the Peace of God will rule our heart and mind, in the midst of this chaotic and wicked world.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”(Col.3:15).
Listen up Warrior! This is how our Commander Jesus Christ lived on earth; He prayed without ceasing and maintained His connection with His Father, and modeled a tender heart for us to imitate. We do this through the power of our Helper Holy Spirit. Ooooh Rah!
